One day, a milkmaid was going to market carrying a pail of milk on her head. As she walked along she began to plan what she would do with the money she’d get for the milk. “When I get money, I’ll buy a hen,” she thought. “And the hen will lay eggs. And I’ll let them hatch and sell the chickens. With the money I get for the chickens, I’ll buy a new dress. I will look beautiful in that lovely dress! When I go to the fair, all the young men will look at me and want to dance with me. but I won’t dance with any of them. And I shall just toss my head like this.” As she spoke that, she tossed the head back and the pail fell off it. All the milk was spilt upon the ground.
