MHS 2013 Homecoming Parade FULL

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Manchester High School’s 2013 Homecoming Parade. My name is Sarah Bushnell and I am joined by my co-host, Luis Gonzalez. Thanks, Sarah. I’m looking forward to a fun-filled afternoon of MHS pride. As always, we are sure to be impressed by this year’s parade. There are 10 groups in the parade today
representing Manchester High School. That’s right Sarah, and the parade itself actually represents 12 student organizations. Of course, we are here representing Red Productions. Yes, and congratulations on being
nominated to Homecoming Court for Red Productions, Luis! Thanks, the same to you Sarah. I would like to thank Mr. Larson for giving us the opportunity to participate in such a great event. While we’re thanking people, we would like to take a moment to thank the MHS Tech Crew, and their advisor, Mr. Fairbanks, for the help in setting up the sound system and staging so our judges can see what’s going on. Speaking of judges, I believe now would
be a good time to introduce them, don’t you? That would be a perfect time, Luis! First, we would like to recognize the mayor
of Manchester for joining us today, Mr. Leo Diana. Representing the Board of Ed, we are pleased to welcome Chairperson Mr. Pattacini. That’s right. We are lucky to have the assistant to the Superintendent, Mrs. Brooks. We are also joined by the director of Pupil Personnel Services, Miss Shelly Matfis. It really is great to have so many people interested as serving as a judge but there is one very important person we would like to introduce: our very own principal, Mr. Geary. So Luis, what do the judges do exactly? Well, the judges have the opportunity to rate each of the groups as they come by. The scores will be decided for the winners for each award to be announced in the student parking lot at the end of the parade. It looks like we have two different kinds of groups. How are they evaluated? There are two categories: Marching Group, and Float Category. In the Marching Category, groups are eligible for three awards: Outstanding Production Number, Best Display of MHS Pride, and Most Outstanding Marching Group. And in the Float category? Float groups are eligible for four awards: Outstanding Float Construction, Outstanding Production Number, Best Display of MHS Pride, and last but certainly not least, the coveted All-Around Best Float award. Wow Luis, no doubt this is going to be a tough competition.
