Dom and Sione – Housing New Zealand Willing and Able

Dom and Sione – Housing New Zealand Willing and Able

– My name is Dom. I’ve been a tenancy manager
for about two and a half years here in West Auckland. – My name is Sione. And she is my wife. Her name is Mele. We’ve got five children. I’m working in one of the rest homes. I know Dom since August last year. He’s a great person. And the most important
thing that we appreciate Dom helping us, that when
our house was on fire. – Unfortunately, not long
ago, Sione and family faced a traumatic experience. There was a fire in their previous home, caused extensive damage. When I arrived on the scene
Sione was the first person that I saw, and it was quite evident that he was quite shocked. And then I saw Mele, who
was nine months pregnant. And I was thinking, “Wow, this family is going through a
lot. I need to do something.” – From the day when the fire was happen, Dom was the first person
from the housing to attend and talk to us. He is the one who was telling us, they got apartment in the city for us to stay there for the time being. – We were only able to place
them into accommodation in the central city, which
was a bit of a mission for the tenants, because
the kids went to school out in West Auckland, Sione
worked out in West Auckland. So it was quite urgent
that we rehouse them ASAP. – And then Dom was keep
updating us about everything. Not even single day, Dom
keep calling us to check us. And whatever we need, we asking him, and he always by our side to support us. – The day that we signed
Sione and his family up to their new property
was actually the day that they gave birth to their fifth child. – I appreciate how he care for us. We can’t have enough way
to say thank for him, for helping us a lot. – It’s an honour and a privilege to help not only Sione and his family, but all tenants be able to move on from any traumatic experience
and live their best life.
