Chessboard (Short film, 2017)

A chess game is optic and plastic,
a mechanized reality The pawns themselves are not beautiful,
nor is the form of the game, But what is really beautiful,
– if we are allowed to use the word beautiful- is the movement. They say that life is like a giant Chessboard And so, I decided to set a game of chess exactly at 12:15. In this version of the game, players and pawns become one. Each one of them chooses a role The Rook, the Knight, the Bishop … and against the White King, stands the Black Queen, with her dark instincts. The colors, however, could be inverted. – Hello, oh it’s you Ren – Don’t worry, I am fine – No, no news. He hasn’t shown up for five days now – He said he needed some time to think … – Right, we should talk.
Where shall we meet? At Sleepwalker? – Ok, since you like it there – Fine, what time? – Oh, right. See you there. Bye. Meet me at the Sleepwalker at 12:00.
– R. – Enjoy…
-Thank you – I only want to know that he is alright… – Do you need something else?
-No, thank you. – I just want from him to call and say that he is alright … – Have you talked with Francesca or another of his friends?
– No. – Your water…
– Oh, Thank you very much. – Did you find it easily?
Shall we sit here? – Yes. – Good morning. A cappuccino, please.
– I’ll have the same. Do you think I am enjoying this? That somehow I am the one that makes it happen? But I have warned you from the start:
the pawns are moving on their own And just like you, I don’t know yet what is going to happen. I can just imagine that
the Queen will see them soon … -Is there something wrong?
