Chess Board Using Solidworks Mapping


Hello, I am Dhruv. And I’ m back with a series
of tutorials designing chess using Solidworks. This tutorial will guide you to design a Chess-Board.
Start with File —->New —->Part and then Ok. Change system to IPS. Select Top Plane,
Right Click on it, Select Sketch, Draw a square of dimension 32. The idea behind dimension
it to 32 is we will convert it into a 8×8 matrix like in chess-board. Ok. And go to
feature, Extrude it upto 1 inches. Now go to this face. Right click on it, and go to
appearence and select face. Here we will find texture option, click on it and in the mapping
we can change the dimension of the squared boxes in it. So we give a dimension of 8 In,
according to our last dimension and click OK. Here our chess-board is ready. What we
need to do, We need the outside border of this board. For this we need a sketch, So
we go to Top Plane, Right Click on it and select Sketch. With the help of Convert Entity,
we can convert this square part of our new sketch. Now Click OK, Here we find the sketch.
Again with the help of Offset Entity, we can offset these entries which we provided. So
with the.. I think 4 is good, 4 Inches. It is quiet OK. Now, Select Fillet, and provide
fillet on the edges of this box. Ya.. It’s OKEy. Now, Go to features and Extrude it,,
to a dimension of 1.2 In. OK. Now, Go to appearence, and slect any option, whatever you want. I
select, Solid—->I think Blue is good. This is the final view of our chess-board. Thank
