*Theme Music* 90 Second Nerd Hey I’m Dallas with
90 Second Nerd. Today I’m doing a recitation video, a preview of The
Perfect Moment. My 90 seconds start now. The Perfect Moment is a wallet game
published by Button Shy Games, in fact it’s the winner of their wallet design
contest. The game’s made for one to two players and it takes about 15 to 30
minutes to play. The limitation imposed by the contest is that the designer has
to make a game using 18 cards or fewer and nothing else. With that considered,
I’m amazed at the cleverness that went into this game and the amount of game
that was crammed into 18 cards. The cards aren’t just used as play a card pick up
a card, collect a set, they’re used for spatial orientation. They’re used for
currency. As you would expect with a wallet game it’s very compact and
can be played in a very small space. So it’s great for traveling –
especially if you’re on a plane a train or an automobile. I actually found that
the game was more difficult to play the more spread-out it was because you need
to be able to see your opponent’s cards. The story of the game is essentially
you’re a time traveler or you will be. In fact, you’re met by a future version of
yourself who says, “here, go fix things.” fix the perfect moment. I don’t know if
you have a TARDIS or a DeLorean or a time-turner – I’m not really clear on that.
You and your opponent will each equip cards in front of you. Each card has an
objective written on the side and two items that can be equipped. These items
are also what you’re looking for on other cards essentially making a match.
If you’re a fan of wallet sized games you know exactly what to expect out of this.
It’s a game that’s very portable, repeatable, and it doesn’t take up a big
footprint on your table or in your pocket. So check it out on Kickstarter.
