General Secretary How many years have you worked with them for? For 9 years. As the General Secretary, why did you start this carrom competition? How do the deaf benefit from this? Nobody supports the deaf, they never get to benefit. I wanted this game because keeps it a person fit. In competitions for the hearing, the deaf can only watch. I wanted the deaf to participate in matches as well. So I started working for this association in 2009. Earlier the carrom competition was very small. As time went by we slowly grew. The deaf are extremely happy as they get to be active and not be bored. In competitions for the hearing, they only watch and never participate. Here we give awards, certificates which the they benefit from in the future. I want the deaf and the hearing to be equals. The hearing people will understand that even the deaf have such events. The deaf are equals. We had participants from Pune, Nashik and Solapur, but they did not have the time to come. That’s great. For the first time a carrom competition like this was held in Mumbai.
