මට නොපෙනෙන චෙස් පුවරුව – A blind person’s chess board

Hello friends. Once Again you are warmly welcome in to Touch n Sense video channel. From this video I am going to talk you about chess. Do you know about it ? Yes, it’s a very popular indoor game. It helps to improve one’s mindfulness, thinking capacity and patience. It depicts a war between two kings. According to the history books this game was first introduced by Princess Supernica, the sister of King Rawana who ruled Sri Lanka over 5,000 years ago. In ancient times This game was played as a outdoor game, using people. They drew a structure similar to the chess board on the floor, and people were placed at the proper points. This is done by moving the players according to the directions given. It was called Chaturanga Kreedawa. This means the four armies of the king , the elephants, riders, vehicles and infantryman. Later this has been transformed into an indoor game between two people. You might be surprised if I tell you that chess is a game that can be done even for the visually impaired. Now I’ll show you how to do it. This is a special chess board exclusively made for people with visual impairment. Only two outer edges of the frame there is a special Braille lettering. The Braille font should be directed towards the player at all times. Also on the frame are the Braille numerals vertically and the Braille letters horizontally. The numbers from one to eight always represent rows, and the letters A to H represent the columns. Black squares are highlighted here for easy identification for the visually impaired. And you can see there is a small hole in the middle of each squares. These are chess pieces. The lower part of each pillar is made up of small pick. We can keep the essential chess piece on the proper place by putting it in the hole. So that they will not fall or change the position. You look at these two pieces keenly. Although it is the same shape as a person with eyesight, there are two chess pieces of black and white color. Now how does a blind person recognize these colors? Look, the black top has a little nail attached to it. But I don’t see that in the white piece. Each of these black pillars has a nail attached to it. It is by that nail that we distinguish the black colored pieces. Now I’ll show you how to keep the chess pieces on the board. For that, as I just mentioned, this is the right direction. Now we start installing the pieces. This is the Rook. There are two such pillars in one color. Now I’m placing the Rooks these two squares on both sides of the bottom row. This is Knight. There are two knights in one color. . Always the Knight is next to the Rook. This one is called the Bishop. The two bishops are standing next to the knight. Now we have the king and the queen in the right place. This is the king and this is the queen. Always put the queen in a square with the same color. So the black queen is placed in a black square. Just like this. Then the queen places the king nearest to the empty fort. Now you see how I filled the back row. These are the Pons. That means the infantrymen are on the front line in a war. So these pockets need to be placed in the front row. All right. You need to remember something else here. If you ever get a chance to play chess with a visually impaired person, you will always have to move the square from the needle square to another square and say the letter and the number in the square where the person is placed. Just think, for example, that I put this pillar here. Then it’s in the square A 4. Now I will show you my chess board that I have prepared for play. So friends, if you’d like to see how I play chess, comment below. Thank you.
